Bristol's Week of Seasonal Food Cultures

Come and join us for a week long celebration of seasonal food cultures and traditions. Tantalise your taste buds with the season’s finest strawberries and beans, and find out more about growing your own.

Tues 3 June,

7 to 9.30am at Eastside Roots, Stapleton Road Train Station
Smoothie Moves - enjoy a healthy, local breakfast on the run! Bicycle powered ‘berry smoothies for commuters and school children using the station - what a great start to the day!

7pm at Easton Community Centre
Food & Film Night – Bristol Hot Pot will be serving delicious, locally sourced, food followed by three fascinating films and three short talks - all on the hot topic of food. Bring your own popcorn.

Wed 4 June

4 - 6pm at Café Midnimo, Sussex Place, St Pauls J
oin us for a homemade Baked Bean Feast: Make your own plant pot and sow a bean for your own home-grown beans.

6.30 to 8.30pm at Stapleton Road Train Station
We will be serving local, organic soup (for donations), followed by a talk about why sourcing local, organic food is one of the key strategies for combating climate change and peak oil.

7.30 – 9.30 at Pill Youth Club
Bristol Food Hub’s ‘Nature’s Kitchen’ will be cooking up some delicious ‘Berry and ‘Bean recipes in their healthy eating workshop.

Thurs 5 June

10.30 to 1.30pm. Meet at Stapleton Rd Train Station
'Free Food Walk' starting at the station for a tea and talk, then onto the 'Corner Garden' at Easton Community Centre, then up the cycle path to finish at Easton Community Allotment for a free Broad Bean Burger Barbecue.

All day at St Teresa's school
Green Day - Bristol Food Hub’s Smoothie Moves will be raising awareness about food’s impact on the planet and our health through its bicycle-powered ‘berry smoothie workshops

5pm to 6.30pm at Stapleton Road Train Station
Adults and children welcome to join us for a bean planting session - together with recipes and fact sheet. Take away your potted seeds for donation.

7.15 – 9.30pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall, Clifton Vale.
Transition Hotwells invites you to bring local strawberries to share whilst watching the award winning ‘A Crude Awakening’ that asks the questions: what happens when we run out of cheap oil?

12 – 8pm at St Werburghs City Farm Fair (Family Zone).
Join Transition St Werburghs and Bristol Food Hub for lots of ‘berry fun workshops and activities at their Strawberry Fayre.

10am - 6pm at The Festival of Nature on the Harbourside.
